Before you apply to work in New Zealand, it costs nothing to brush it on the main rules governing employers and employees there, and know their rights and duties. Legal details  - There are two different minimum wages, for young people up to age 17, and one for people over 18 years. All workers in New Zealand are entitled to three weeks paid holiday per year. Many sell the holiday, which is perfectly legal if the employer agrees to buy them. In addition to the holiday, the employee is guaranteed 11 days of holidays, whether national or regional per year, paid by the employer. After completing 6 months on the job, the employee shall be entitled to take next year, five days of the "Sick Leave". PAYE (tax rebates) - The employer has the duty to deduct tax from your salary at source for the IR (Inland Revenue - income tax). If at the end of the fiscal year, the amount deducted is greater than the amount of tax payable, a refund may be pled by the worker. PAYE = pay as you earn. The end of financial year in NZ is 31/03.

OSH (Occupational Safety & Health) - It is a kind of guide which appears all the precautions that must be taken to prevent accidents at work, such as helmets, gloves, handling and disposal of chemicals and so on. Each company must also follow the basic guidelines of the government, adding to their list, and have the employee read and follow these guidelines. It is pure responsibility of the employer to make the said are met, and failure by the employee may be cause for dismissal.

EEO (Equal Employment Opportunities) - It is against the law to make discrimination in New Zealand, EEO and must be obeyed by any employer to hire. Here, one can not discriminate by gender, marital status, age, sexual preference, color, ethnic groups, children, physical format, or personal preferences. The position should be given to the person who is most qualified for the job in question.
